Masquerade Manslaughter
Police in area 36 Lilongwe have found a dead body rapped in a black plastic bag in malangalanga forest three days ago. In the same alignment of days Samuel Banda 34 years old was reported missing at the community police station.
During my investigation I uncovered a web of deceit and corruption. According to eyewitnesses, Chief kasamba of katantha area had been suspected of ordering the man's murder.
Banda, had been missing for three days before his body was discovered in the forest. The police initially reported that the man had been killed by armed robbers, but our investigation revealed a different story.
Sources close to the scene told me that the kasamba had a motive for the murder. Banda had been having an affair with the chief's wife, and the chief had been seeking revenge. Kasamba had hired masquerades to kill the man and then blamed it on armed robbers.
I spoke to several people who claimed to have seen the masquerades in the area around the time of the murder. They described the masquerads carrying sticks and machetes.
The police said they will put Kasamba under investigation to his involvement in the murder.
The villagers are outraged by the allegations against the chief. "This is a serious breach of trust," said one villager. "We demand justice for the victim and his family.
When questioned about the allegations, kasamba denied any involvement in the murder. "I know nothing about this," he said. "I am shocked and saddened by the death of the Samuel, and I condemn whoever is responsible for this heinous act."
However, my investigation revealed that the kasamba had a history of using his power to intimidate and silence critics of the MCP. Several villagers told me that they had been threatened by the kasamba in the past.
In a shocking turn of events, one of the masquerades involved in the murder came forward and confessed to the crime. According to the masquerade, the kasamba had instructed them to kill the victim and blame it on armed robbers.
The masquerade described the events leading up to the murder, including the instructions and the planning of the attack. "We were told to make it look like armed robbers did it," the masquerade said.
The police are now working to gather more evidence and build a case against the chief. If convicted, the chief could face serious penalties, including imprisonment.
